Tortoli is the most populous city and includes the Bay of Ogliastra Arbatax, the presence of the port and the airport's third level allows a direct link with the mainland. The origin of the town is uncertain, as well as its name, which some would come from Troy, as founded by the Trojans on the run, while others mean "land of turtle doves." Its territory is mostly flat, situated in a vast plain to the sea. Tortoli is one of the most popular on the east coast. Rich in citrus groves, is characterized by spectacular beauty of the coastline, rich in details of red porphyry cliffs and white sand beaches. Among these stand out for its fine sand and crystal clear water and the Lido di Orri Frailis Harbour, overlooking the homonymous bay. The presence of many resorts and hotels and campsites located in some of the most beautiful coves of the coast, allows you to host thousands of tourists who may be offered many services needed for a stay vacations.

The completion of the marina in the port of Arbatax increased the influx of sailing aficionados: for services, the port has become an almost obligatory destination for those who sail along the eastern coast of Sardinia. There are some areas in the territory of Tortolì of great archaeological interest, the largest of which close to the rural church of San Salvatore (where there are menhir, domus de Janas, Tombs of the Giants and nuraghi) and San Lussorio (where there are ruins of a Roman village). It is considered likely that the population has moved to the location where it is today around the tenth century, because of the continuous Saracen invasions. This shift has made the center of Tortolì in a position to no longer be visible from the sea. In the nineteenth century the country assumed an aspect of urban type, with fine buildings and the central square where the walk took place around which were arranged and the shops of merchants and tavernai. Along the streets of the town you can live the experience of 'About Logu de s'Iscultura', Museum of Contemporary Art in the open, offering works by artists such as Mauro Stacciali, Antonio Levolella, Umberto Mariani, Maria Lai, Ascanio Renda , Peter Knife, Hitetoski Nagasawa. As for local cuisine, local dishes offer a large variety of fish and the roe from the pond is the best island

The apartment is not exactly the best in terms of cleanliness. It provides both sheets and towels, but when taking a shower, the floor gets very wet and there is neither a mat nor any cloths to dry it. The kitchen is available, but we did not use it. There is a veranda with tables and chairs, and the possibility to wash and hang clothes. The area is quiet and the parking is nearby, both free and paid. I cannot say that I had a bad experience, but given the general cleanliness, I cleaned the bathroom a bit before using it. I do not know if I will return to the area, but if that happens, I will turn to another structure.
