Description

The Bed & Breakfast "Cascina Le Madonne", located in a well-defined architectural and courtyard area compared to other buildings in the village, stands out remarkably from the classic type of Cremonese farmhouses with a closed courtyard. While the latter usually appear as quadrilaterals where the arrangement of arcades, houses, and stables is regulated by the cardinal points and prevailing winds, forming a multifunctional, rational, and integrated building complex, the "Le Madonne" farmhouse develops on a single architectural front, characterized internally by imposing pointed arches. Built in the early 20th century in neo-Gothic style, probably designed by the architect Ulisse Stacchini, famous for the construction of the Milan Central Station and commissioned for philanthropic purposes in designing the village nursery, carried out according to innovative criteria both in terms of pedagogy and functionality. Inside, there are two tower houses, where the factor and the farmhand were accommodated, connected to the stables and the very high barns where most of the hay harvested in the surrounding fields was stored. Particularly original, if not unique, is the roof support system, consisting not of beams made from oak or fir logs, but of wooden boxes that contain inside, not visible externally, a series of struts combined with each other to exert a counterthrust to the weight of the tiles and other elements that make up the roof.

The B&B occupies one of these two tower houses and a part of the stables that have been renovated for residential purposes. In addition to the now indispensable technological comforts in daily life, what it offers is the centuries-old peace of a countryside that has largely preserved the planting of ditch banks and the presence of large oaks, authentic natural monuments, towering on the sides or in the center of the fields.

The Luignano hamlet is located on the route of numerous cycle paths that allow you to reach Cremona, Crema, Lodi, Soresina, Pizzighettone, Soncino, and many other towns in the province of Brescia bordering the high Cremona area. For those interested in this type of "gentle" transportation by bicycle or on foot, bicycles, guides, and, if necessary, GPS devices are available for outdoor use. The sounds of mechanical instruments present in a dedicated common room for "cultural relaxation" will offer a moment of auditory enjoyment for those who wish to stay in the farmhouse, while a good selection of books and art films is available for the eyes and mind.

We stayed for only one night in this structure and it felt like taking a trip back in time: the house is full of history and objects that tell stories. Our room (almost a mini apartment!) was very large, clean and furnished with 1970s design objects, equipped with all the comforts. The owner, very kind, offered us a royal breakfast full of local specialties. Despite this, however, I feel like saying that this experience is not for everyone. If you are looking for a place close to city life, furnished with furniture without personality, the same as many others, standardized, this B&B is not for you. If you seek the warmth of a lived-in home, if you want authentic contact, if you love the silence of the countryside (and its genuine flavors, in the village restaurant), do not let it slip away.

The structure is very convenient to reach the center of Cremona, which is only 15 minutes by car. The owner, Mr. Maurizio, is a really kind person with whom we chatted pleasantly. We will come back soon to greet him and his dog Jean-Jacques.

We stayed at this property in view of the Petfestival in Cremona. Exemplary availability and kindness of Mr. Massimo, our rooms were beautiful, very clean and very large. The beds were really comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and with shower products, hairdryer, and towels. The breakfast was delicious, very abundant with excellent quality products. The place is very quiet, it is a countryside b&b, ideal for getting away from city stress.

Very charming historic structure, extremely disappointed by the really precarious and, in my opinion, unhealthy hygienic conditions. The room was very spacious and in an excellent corner position, but full of useless knick-knacks, also dust collectors, present everywhere, even on the sheets and towels. The bathroom was neither clean nor sanitized. As for breakfast, I preferred to overlook it and leave immediately upon waking up. The manager is a very kind person but should keep the structure, truly lovely, in better conditions.

Even if we lived a kilometer away from Cascina Le Madonne, now that we have discovered it, every time we needed to 'unplug', be pampered and enjoy a magical place, or in need of a trip to an enchanting planet, a leap into the past made of objects, ancient smells and the peace of a silence that evokes moments and emotions that are good for the heart and the brain, we would come there! Because you have to come here! Because besides the place, Maurizio is one of those rare people that you would listen to for hours while he tells you about himself, the surrounding places or past times. He is very welcoming, helpful, friendly and both he and the place pleasantly put anyone at ease, at peace with the world. Once you arrive, you wouldn't want to leave, you are pleasantly captured by an enchanted atmosphere... we don't want to reveal more. Discover it and experience it, even just for a day! Unfortunately and reluctantly I have to leave a negative review. I have thought a lot about it but if I don't do it, others may experience the same discomfort as me and I don't think it's fair or constructive for the owner. We arrived on 14/8 at 12:30 and left after having seen the structure. The photos are very beautiful but probably old, the structure is interesting but what you experience when entering is a sense of abandonment. Dust, uncared-for garden, dirty pool bottom. The most disturbing thing: at noon, food already on the table for the next day's breakfast covered with plastic sheets. The manager conveys boredom, apathy, and little cleanliness. No one in the structure, no horse, cow, or anything else. The manager's dog attacks our dog and he tells us that his dog does not like other animals and he locks it up in a disturbing cage. Mannequins scattered around the rooms, sitting on the sofa, by the poolside. It felt like being on the set of a Dario Argento film. We ran away. Great potential without soul, joy, life, and above all serenity. I apologize for the harshness but I believe it is right to share our opinion. And then we had difficulty because we had to find another place... and it wasn't easy. P.S. Two adults, a five-year-old and a dog.

As a good disorganized person, I had to choose the most economical solution possible for a fleeting stay, but I never expected to be able to visit such a welcoming structure at a minimum price. Highly recommended for anyone who loves poetry, art, and cinema. The owner is of remarkable intellectual depth and excellent company. I'm just waiting for the first warm days to treat myself to a new weekend of peace at Cascina Le Madonne!

We spent three nights in this splendid farmhouse, a bit remote and in a very small village, but it's perfect for those who need to stay in the area in complete relaxation. Excellent price, more than excellent and always abundant breakfast, and Maurizio, a very kind and helpful person. In short, everything went very well, a very valid structure with excellent bathrooms! Definitely if I find myself in the area to stay, I already know where to go!

I spent a few days in the B&B with 8 other guys. The manager, Maurizio, was very kind to us, very nice and easygoing. The breakfast was plentiful, the price absolutely favorable. The only small flaw is on cleanliness. The structure is beautiful, in the countryside, in a very quiet place.

A beautiful farmhouse in an almost uninhabited village, so for those looking for tranquility and relaxation is perfect. The owner is a helpful and very kind person, the price is good. The only flaw is cleanliness, it must have been just a case that during the period I stayed maybe they had let go a bit in the cleaning, but I trust in the potential of the owner.

Maurizio is a helpful, kind, and interesting person. The rooms are spacious and bright, but what impressed us the most is the morning breakfast, plentiful and varied. We had a great time, I recommend it also because it's economical! Suitable for people who love the countryside, and don't get impressed if they find an insect at home. The dog is also very nice, I will definitely come back!
