Description
The B&B Poggio Tafuri is a sanctuary. It is a grand 19th-century residence located within a charming farmhouse on the outskirts of the Alta Murgia Park.

For ages, Tafuri has been a place where individuals leave their worries behind and connect with a slower pace of life.

Over the years, its cool tuff walls have hosted gatherings of the local aristocracy from Andria, as well as providing rest for laborers and sharecroppers returning from the fields. Its ancient pines have watched over children at play and offered tranquility to the elders during the afternoon rest.

Anyone who has visited this place, even for a brief moment, has always felt at home. To them, and to those yet to experience it, the B&B Poggio Tafuri extends a warm welcome.

We stayed at this enchanted place, surrounded by greenery and pampered by the sounds that nature offers. For nature lovers, it's really the top. The owners, Cristina and Marco, are friendly and helpful, despite a small misunderstanding at the time of booking, the lady reserved us a truly special treatment. An important mention should also be made for the breakfast. Mrs. Cristina prepares a rich homemade breakfast, all made with her own hands and obviously with raw materials of her own production. What can I say, a great discovery. Highly recommended! Congratulations for everything.

Very pleasant stay, even though limited to the evening and night for tourist reasons. Typical structure of the Murgie with an adjacent manor house (probably heraldic) and outbuilding. We stayed in the only available apartment, which my wife and I found comfortable, panoramic, and ventilated with parking in a reserved courtyard. The owner gave us excellent hospitality, and shows to be a refined cook attentive to Puglian traditions by cooking excellent dishes and serving others such as burrata, olives, etc., all cheered by good house wine and his pleasant company. Liquors, jams, cakes, focaccias, cherries, apricots, etc. delighted our awakening every morning, leading us reluctantly along tourist routes with a belly full of many delights. Recommended for those seeking an authentic and peaceful place in the midst of nothingness dotted with olive trees and the chirping of cicadas.

An ancient village of the Murge, among vineyards, olive groves, and almond trees, near Castel del Monte. Excellent starting point for visiting residual wooded areas within the boundaries of the Alta Murgia National Park. The scents and flavors associated with "care" are a sign of a "familiar" management of the house.

In our usual journey from the north to the south for the summer holidays, a pleasant stop in an oasis of tranquility. The welcome of the hosts in the best tradition of the South, exquisite and enveloping, the cuisine, with local products excellent in its simplicity.\n\nWe thank Cristina and Michele for their hospitality and continue our journey towards 'the sea of Palizzi'.\n\nMara and Pasquale.

Structure of remarkable architectural interest set in a particular landscape. It feels like being projected into the past in a magical world beyond space and time. The proximity to Castel del Monte reinforces its characteristics. Exemplary the renovation and preservation of the ancient parts of the dwelling (the fireplace dates back to the seventeenth century). Remarkable are the dishes prepared by the landlady who enhances the local cuisine with a touch of personality.

Charming ancient farmhouse, immersed in the greenery of olive and cypress trees, well renovated, quiet room, furnished with antique furniture, very comfortable bed with 'grandma's' sheets adorned with lace. Breakfast and dinner based on bread, focaccia, sweets, pasta all homemade personally by Cristina, the owner for whom there are no words to define kindness, good taste, and culinary skills. Also wine, oil, olives, vegetables, ricotta, and pecorino all strictly from the territory. Having stayed on the way there, given the welcome, we wanted to spend a second night at this property on the way back.

The main purpose of our trip was to visit Castel del Monte and we were looking for accommodation in the countryside that was as authentic as possible. We found it beyond our best expectations. The building is a rural building from the past that retains the charm of the times when it was an integral part of a large farmhouse. The atmosphere you breathe is that of country life, with its own rhythms, its own taste, and its own logic, so far from the inevitably artificial and commercialized ones of the cities. And it is thanks to the hospitality and familiarity with which we were welcomed by the owners Giuseppe and Cristina that we were able to perceive all this even in a short stay of 2 days like ours. The food is excellent, simple, and traditional, but impeccable in taste and lightness (despite variety and abundance). Finally, the breakfast was memorable: garden fruit (exceptional in taste and sweetness), small tarts with jam and fresh fruit, a spectacular ricotta, fried zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta (even for me, fried food for breakfast left me a bit perplexed, but after the first taste, the only concern was that they would end too soon), warm walnut bread rolls, and, last but not least, the Bari-style focaccia (with cherry tomatoes and oregano for those who don't know it) that fills the house with a scent that alone makes anyone who knows how to appreciate all this understand that they are in the right place.

We were very happy with our (too) short stay at Poggio Tafuri. In fact, we returned to Cristina and Giuseppe ten days after the first stay. Beyond the tranquility of the house, we were struck by the kindness, simplicity, availability, and pleasure of receiving guests. It is worth mentioning the natural food and the excellent homemade cuisine made by the hostess. For sure, we will return to Poggio Tafuri.

I know, it is embarrassing to give everyone ten, but there is no eleven. What can I say about Cristina and Giuseppe: they are not managers, they are friends who share time, food, and glimpses of past life, with simplicity and participation. Tranquility reigns with the gentle sounds of the countryside and when you have to leave, you get emotional thinking that you might never come back. But never say never.
