LAKE ORTA
or Cusio, is located west of Lake Maggiore is the most westerly among the alpine lakes of Northern Italy, situated entirely in Piedmont. Supervolcano OF VALSESIA

The novelty of this discovery is that it for the first time in the world this fossil supervolcano shows us all his power system "from the top to the underworld", as they say with satisfaction to its discoverers.
The supervolcano Valsesian, located in an area that extends from the City of Balmuccia to that of Prato Sesia, was active 290 million years ago, its important and significant eruptions, which is even able to darken the atmosphere and altering the global climate, led to the formation of a caldera (or a collapse) with a diameter of several kilometers. After 10 million years, however, the volcano entered a period of inactivity to collapse on itself.
When about 60 million years ago, Africa and Europe collided, following the opening of the Atlantic Ocean and the consequent drift of the African continent, the Alps were formed But at the Sesia Valley turning over the earth's crust has made emergence of the deepest parts of the fuel system of the volcano as well, the whole apparatus magmatic that once stood beneath the volcano at a depth of about 25 km, it has emerged allowing us to see parts generally inaccessible.
