La Casa del Borgo

The B&B "La Casa del Borgo" will welcome you in the hamlet "Cà du Bas" at an altitude of 500 meters, just outside the town of Brissago Valtravaglia, within a small village of rural houses completely surrounded by the forests of Valtravaglia, a stone's throw from Lake Maggiore and the Campo dei Fiori Regional Park in Varese.

A true oasis of relaxation and absolute tranquility, from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding green hills and the mountains of nearby Switzerland.

You will feel completely in contact with nature and the animals that inhabit it.

From the windows, you can go birdwatching or observe the antics of squirrels and dormice among the trees. Often in the early morning or upon your return in the evening, you will encounter deer feeding, or foxes and badgers crossing the road - truly unique experiences.

And all of this without having to take the car, just put on your hiking shoes or hop on a mountain bike and go - you are already ready to explore the trails in search of adventures.

And even though it may seem like you are far from the world, in reality, only a few minutes separate you from Luino and the shores of Lake Maggiore, only half an hour from Varese and Lugano, and less than an hour from the city of Milan and Malpensa Airport.

In the ancient rural house where you will stay, the presence of wood and stone is a constant, and the renovation has made the spaces comfortable while highlighting their originality.

In the attic area, guests have at their disposal a double bedroom, a small bedroom with bunk beds, and a bathroom with a bathtub, while a bathroom with a shower is available on the lower floor.

The bathrooms are intended for the private use of each room, and in the case of a single person or couple reservation, we guarantee privacy and exclusive use by not accepting further reservations.

Breakfast will be prepared inside, in the living area with the adjacent wooden loft. Here, there is also a fully equipped kitchen where you can cool your drinks in the summer or warm up a steaming cup of tea on cold autumn days.

On beautiful days, you can continue breakfast outdoors in the small garden at your disposal, relaxing in the sun, perhaps reading a book or contemplating nature.

Finally, there is no problem with parking your car, as there is a public parking lot just a few steps from our B&B.

Our facility is also committed to responsible and sustainable tourism.

For this reason, we try to choose genuine products from local producers for breakfast whenever possible, and we use energy-saving light bulbs throughout the house and environmentally friendly products with low environmental impact for cleaning and laundry, which is also free when the sun is shining thanks to a photovoltaic system.

As a final note, please be aware that we do not allow pets or smoking in our property.

The road that leads to our B&B continues towards the Alpe San Michele (Porto Valtravaglia), an ancient mountain pasture at 1000 meters with a charming 13th-century church, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Lake Maggiore and where you can start your nature excursions and find refreshments to satisfy your appetite after your walks.

If, on the other hand, you want to venture a little further, you can explore the numerous nature trails in both the Varese valleys and the Canton of Ticino, or in the summer, enjoy a refreshing swim in the many lakes in the surrounding area, especially Lake Maggiore or Lake Monate.

In the vicinity, sports enthusiasts can also find interesting opportunities for cycling routes of varying difficulty, horseback riding thanks to the numerous riding stables, boat trips or sailing courses at the specialized centers in Cerro di Laveno or Luino, and for the more daring and courageous, experience the thrill of paragliding or hang gliding, launching from Sasso Ferro or Monte Nudo near Laveno and enjoying the extraordinary breathtaking panorama of the lake and Monte Rosa.

In Luino, you can also visit the large and famous market, held every Wednesday.

And the cultural side is not to be underestimated either.

You can visit very interesting tourist sites, such as the Rocca di Angera with the doll museum, the Sanctuary of Santa Caterina, the beautiful Borromean Islands with their flower gardens and palaces full of works of art, the charming town of Stresa and the Park of Villa Pallavicino, the Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto in Verbania, the village of Orta on the homonymous lake with the Sacro Monte from which you can enjoy a view of the island of San Giulio.

Finally, we would like to remind you that Switzerland is truly close by, and in just half an hour by car, you can reach and visit Lugano and the charming villages on the lake and participate in the numerous cultural events that are organized, such as the Jazz Festival in Lugano and Ascona or the Locarno Film Festival.

There is no shortage of tourist attractions, as well as food and wine itineraries, and you can ask the owner, Giulia, who is a tour guide, for useful advice to make the most of this corner of Italy.

DIRECTIONS TO REACH US.

Highways: A8 (Milano - Varese)
The A8 highway ends in the center of Varese, and from there, follow the signs for Valganna-Ponte Tresa-Valichi Svizzera. Once you reach Ghirla, follow the directions for Luino and, after passing through the village of Cunardo and a few hairpin turns, when you arrive in Grantola, take the main road until the stop sign. At that point, turn left for Cittiglio-Laveno and immediately after 10 meters, turn right for Mesenzana-Brissago. Once you have crossed the village of Mesenzana, the road starts to climb, and once you reach the town of Brissago Valtravaglia, follow the signs for San Michele. When you turn right in the town center following San Michele, after about 800 meters of uphill, you will find the sign for Via Basso and our B&B on the left.

Note:
For those using a GPS, it is recommended to enter Mesenzana as the destination first and then, once you reach Mesenzana, enter Brissago Valtravaglia.

Railways:
The nearest train stations are Luino (RFI) and Laveno (RFI and FERROVIENORD).

Airports:
The nearest Italian airport is Milan Malpensa (50 minutes), followed by Milan Linate (1 hour 15 minutes).

The nearest foreign airport is Lugano-Agno (30 minutes).
