Most Christmas markets take place in Trentino-Alto Adige, but more and more Italian towns will host the characteristic wooden stalls between November and January, offering lights, shows, handicrafts, traditional sweets, and mulled wine.

The Bolzano Christmas Market is an unmissable experience, known as the largest in Italy and famous for the enchanting atmosphere that attracts visitors from all over Europe every year for over twenty years. From the end of November to early January, the magical Walther Square in the heart of Bolzano transforms into an authentic Christmas village, illuminated by sparkling lights and enveloped in the unmistakable scent of spices and traditional sweets.
Along the path that winds through the approximately 70 stalls, visitors can discover a world of gastronomic specialties and unique handmade creations: from classic spiced gingerbread cookies to handmade decorations, every detail reflects the tradition and quality of local craftsmanship. And there are plenty of activities for the little ones as well: carousels, puppet theaters, ponies for short rides, and even a little train that runs through the market provide moments of pure joy for children.

Christmas on the Renon Plateau, just a short distance from Bolzano, is an intimate and evocative celebration, unique in its kind. Every weekend, from November 29 to December 29, 2024, two special Christmas markets come to life: one in the picturesque center of Collalbo and the other at the Soprabolzano station, where the market is hosted in the historic carriages of the Renon train, beautifully illuminated and surrounded by Christmas sounds and scents. Here, amidst festive melodies and local delicacies, visitors can admire authentic handmade crafts that tell the tradition of the place.
Among this year's novelties are the "Christmas workshops" or "creativity workshops," spaces dedicated to those who love art and craftsmanship: talented artists and craftsmen create small wonders in front of visitors, transforming ideas into unique, handmade objects.
The program is also designed for families: children can have fun creating Christmas cards, watching puppet shows, listening to Marzia's stories, meeting the friendly llamas from Kaserhof, and being enchanted by the theatrical performance "What Magic!" featuring Chrys Magic. And, as if that weren't enough, every Sunday, romantic carriage rides are organized from the station to the Trenatale of Collalbo, with special rides dedicated to the little ones. From November 29, 2024, to January 1, 2025, Lagundo transforms into an enchanting Christmas retreat, where tradition, craftsmanship, and good cuisine blend to create unique moments for both young and old. For those seeking an authentic Christmas away from the hustle and bustle of large cities, Lagundo is the perfect destination!
The family atmosphere is enhanced by a large gingerbread house, an ice skating rink, and typical Christmas stalls, where one can find original gifts and savor local delicacies. Amidst Christmas melodies and special moments, this place offers a unique experience to celebrate one of the most magical times of the year together.
Starting from November 29, Lagundo comes alive with a series of special events that add a touch of magic to the holiday season. Every Friday afternoon, the program focuses on children, offering crafting activities, animated readings, dance moments, and the opportunity to decorate the gingerbread house together. These events provide the little ones with a fun and creative experience.
On Saturday and Sunday evenings, music takes center stage: from traditional melodies to more modern rhythms, the musical program is designed for all ages. Additionally, Saturday evening features a special appointment for food lovers: a cooking show that will enchant both young and old gourmets, offering culinary ideas and unique tastings to celebrate the flavors of the holidays.

These markets welcome exhibitors not only from Trentino but also from South Tyrol.
In Piazza Fiera, you can admire about 70 wooden huts, while in Piazza Battisti, there are around 20, all dedicated to selling local artisanal products and gastronomic specialties. Here, you'll find Christmas decorations, nativity scenes, candles, and a variety of unique gift ideas made of wood, glass, or ceramics, perfect for surprising your loved ones during the holidays. A highlight of the food stalls is the gourmet section "Flavors of the Market", where you can taste delicious Trentino and South Tyrolean specialties. Among the must-try dishes are the Tortel de patate and the Cevap from the Valle dei Mocheni.
