Casa Sipione Papa

Corso Francesco Crispi, 19 MODICA | Area: city center
Declared by the Innkeeper

The Sipione Papa House, dating back to the 19th century, is located in the center of Modica County, just a few steps away from the majestic Mother Church of San Giorgio and the ancient Castle of the Counts. This residence overlooks the lively Corso Crispi and the charming church of San Michele, which today belongs to the Frederickian Templar Knights.

The splendid frescoed vaults, ceramic floors, and characteristic 19th-century pavements blend in a decoratively elegant style that harmoniously merges with the welcoming atmosphere, between Baroque and the Belle Époque.

From the balconies, one can take a dive into the past, admiring the bell tower of San Michele that stands out in the view and the picturesque homonymous street that opens into the side square of the majestic San Giorgio.

The magnificent Baroque facade of the church opens onto a splendid staircase that leads to the city's main thoroughfare. From the main balcony of the house, like from a lounge, one can enjoy a charming panorama, which has served as the backdrop for memorable scenes from the famous Montalbano TV series.
