Surrounded by a legendary aura, the residence is named after one of the oldest episodes in Roman history, “The Abduction of the Sabine Women,” which took place in the countryside around the Capitoline territories. According to tradition, Romulus, after founding Rome, sought alliances with nearby populations and requested women to increase the population of the new city. When they refused, Romulus resorted to deception: he organized a grand event to lure the locals and abduct their women.
